Jim Salter - Elder
Jim Salter, a military dependent grew up all over the United States. Born in Mobile, he states he was raised everywhere else. Growing up as a military benefit had its advantages, his favorite was the three years spent in London. Returning stateside to the Deep South, he found his soul-mate in Lucedale MS. Having enlisted in the Navy in 1982, he had served for nearly 25 years before retiring as an LDO. Currently he works for one of the country’s top defense contracting companies in Norfolk, VA. Jim is married Nancy Dickerson of Lucedale, MS. They have three wonderful children – two girls and a son. Their oldest, Jessica is married to Brian Davis. Monica is the proud mother of their granddaughter, Alyssa. Their one and only son, Ben, lives with them in Virginia Beach, VA. Jim and Nancy are very blessed with the fact that all of their children are baptized believers, which they are most grateful.
Jim did not come to know the Lord, as a believer, until his early adulthood, through the influence of Nancy’s family. Throughout his navy career, Jim and Nancy served the Lord in South Carolina, Illinois, California, Mississippi, Florida and Virginia. Having active roles wherever and whenever needed, it wasn't until here in Virginia Beach when Jim would slow down enough to have a deeper service to the Lord, first as a deacon and now an elder. Jim and Nancy are very grateful for the warmth and love of the Lord that resides with the Bayside family.
