Bob Stoddert

Elder
Bob Stoddert is a product of the Virginia public school system in Fluvanna and Goochland counties. After being accepted through a competitive presidential appointment, he graduated from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, in 1965, and then went directly into pilot training, first Pensacola, FL, then Milton, FL, and finally Corpus Christi, Texas.
The best part of his life was meeting his wife, Allene, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and her introducing him to the Church of Christ. Congregations they attended while married include, Annapolis, Oxen Hill and Bowie all in Maryland; Gateway and First City in Pensacola, FL; Canyon View in San Diego; Honolulu in Hawaii; and in Atsugi and Yokosuka, Japan.
Bob spend several years flying off aircraft carriers during Vietnam then returned to the states and married Allene in 1970. They spend their first years of their married life with Bob being a naval flight instructor and simultaneously getting a master’s degree in Aeronautical Systems (Engineering) in Pensacola, FL while Allene also got her graduate degree in counseling. During this period Bob contracted bone cancer and had part of his right leg removed, which is why you’ll see him limp.
Allene and Bob have two children, John and Beth, both of whom were baptized into the Church of Christ. In September 2012 Allene and Bob will be celebrating their 42st anniversary.
After retiring in 1994, Bob spent the next 17 years in the private sector in Washington DC, Navarre, FL and then here in Suffolk in OSD’s Joint Test and Evaluation Program.
Since joining Bayside, 8 years ago, Bob and Allene have loved this warm and loving church family.
